Happy Happy all you Sad Lonely People,

That makes two us. It's been a few months, eh? Family good? Kids? Career? Good and you? There's a reason why you haven't seen us out on the town. No time to be frolicking in the summer heat and chasing the ice cream truck down the street. And no, none of us have perished in any freak hunting accidents or bear attacks. But amongst the four of us we have been doing some globe trotting through parts of europe and canada, also building houses up in northern ontario... oh yeah... and we've also been making an album to be reckoned with. Live off the floor beds. Flawed and beautiful. A track here, a track there. Here a tuck, there a tweak, everywhere a nudge bump. It shouldn't surprise you how awesome this album will be. Grizzled and unrelenting. We are honing in on exactly how we hear it. Please stay tuned for our teaser and don't forget to look both ways.

Dearest,

It wasn't the fact that he was wielding a trembling knife or that his expression was wrought with a perplexed anger - the bed burning kind. It was mostly that I knew with certainty that his heart was colicky. A relentless whining baby heart that no amount of warm breast milk or rocking or swaddling or tireless pacing could evaporate. So, with this knowledge, and with a lack of weapons of my own within close reach, I stood and prepared for the worst kind of thing. The end of it all or the end of something. The change in figure, weather, texture, mood, plan, spirit and senses. Love was a dying afterthought. I was done for. So was he.

Hip Toronto Magazine Q: So tell us what’s going on with you guys.

DoneFors A: Well, is it just us, or is anyone else feeling like this year’s early March is an especially depressing one? I mean, I know we’re all good Canadians just for living this cycle every year, but c’mon! It’s been the type of winter you just want to end already. And there’s more on the way. Us? Well, we’ve been feeling like we just got dumped. Like we got kidnapped while we were waiting for the bus. Feeling like all hope is lost. Like an abortionist on their way to work. If I were a walrus I’d definitely be Paul. If I were Steve Miller I’d’ve hung myself just for the press. If I were a bee I’d be a worker and not the queen. Sorry… what was the question?

Hip Toronto Magazine Q: The question was “what’s going on with you guys?”

DoneFors A: Oh right! Are you kidding? Tons of SHOWS in Toronto this month. Gladstone / Mitzi’s / The Local & C’est What. You’d be completely crazy to miss any of them so we can expect you to have perfect attendance if you want a passing grade. Don’t be a flunky.

Dear friends,

We recently received a feisty letter from our web provider letting us know that they would be cutting off our service if we didn’t upgrade our hosting package to something a little more substantial to float the weight of increasing visitorship. You see, our site has had some traffic due to the fact that we’ve got our songs available for free download. We like to give you free things. This is true. But it seems that now our bellies are asking where all the food went.

So, you see, though free things are lovely, making donations to a lovely band who you’d like to see continue to make lovely music is also nice. Dearly Beloved,

So here we are in the dead center of December and if there were ever any questions of when winter would final hit us hard, they were answered on Saturday night whilst the heavens opened up and sent 30cm of snow before the calm finally came. 1cm of snow for every one friend or family member who came out to see us at C'est What this past weekend. Although the weather disappointed us DoneFors due to low concert go'er turnout, not a single ear was disappointed or harmed in what proved to be the best DoneFors performance yet. Don't say we didn't warn you all to be there. We'd still be at your funeral if the weather were shitty.

So thank you to everyone who came out. Special night for the band and glad you could all be there for it. Hope to see all you purgatory dwellers at the next show. We'll be ascending it.

Dear little crumbs & morsels

After seven long months of musical hiatus from one another, The DoneFors are back at it and working furiously to get you the secrets of life and death before an inopportune situation may arise. Let's say that in the near future you find yourself in a padded white room where no one believes a single word you say. Wouldn't your touched little mind find peace in knowing some of the massive secrets that we all dig to uncover? We've got answers for you (at a minuscule price) but Walter my friend, you must stay in the loop. You can't say we're not thinking of your well being, but please listen closely. Here we go....

Our first few steps in spreading the good news have been recording three new songs at Brian Lahaie's studio here in Toronto and we've also begun to fill up the schedule with live shows. Our first show back on board together was last week at The Mod Club for The Open Door Festival -- a benefit event for The Red Door Family Shelter. Let's just say that everyone who witnessed our performance has a better understanding of universal intricacies. Those who missed out are still in the dark. Are you in the dark? If so then tsk tsk! Are you not curious to know how it all ends? Gertrude? Are you listening?

So what else you ask? We now have five songs up for free download off this very website in the Listen Closely section. Please don't think twice and make sure to download all five while you're at it. Tell your friends and family. Tell your neighbours and colleagues. Tell whoever you think must know. Just don't leave anyone behind.

Hey Kids!

The good ol' DoneFors are gearin' up to make a neat record this fall. Maybe you'll wanna come out and see a show. That'd be swell. We'd be happy to have you. This here site is a new little baby, and we'll be able to post more news soon. But for now, please come visit us again from time to time. We enjoy your visits very much. Bring freshly baked goodies when you swing by and we'll provide the entertainment. We like goodies. Do you like entertainment? I'll bet you do!
